Mission Statement

The Guidance Department Mission is to assist students in maximizing their potential. Each counselor is specially trained to assist students with his/her individual social and emotional development. It is the aim of each counselor to help each student make the most of the opportunities they are given and to know him/herself better.

Below are highlights of a few of the things we do:

  • Work with individual students and small groups
  • Help to identify social, emotional and academic needs of students
  • Encourage better interpersonal relationships between students, teachers, and parents
  • Promote positive attitudes and choices
  • Support teachers and parents in helping students succeed
  • Create a link among families and community resources
  • Provide students with problem solving skills and strategies
  • Develop and implement programs to encourage excellent character traits, social skills, and foster effective coping mechanisms
