School Counselor
Mission Statement
The Guidance Department Mission is to assist students in maximizing their potential. Each counselor is specially trained to assist students with his/her individual social and emotional development. It is the aim of each counselor to help each student make the most of the opportunities they are given and to know him/herself better.
Below are highlights of a few of the things we do:
- Work with individual students and small groups
- Help to identify social, emotional and academic needs of students
- Encourage better interpersonal relationships between students, teachers, and parents
- Promote positive attitudes and choices
- Support teachers and parents in helping students succeed
- Create a link among families and community resources
- Provide students with problem solving skills and strategies
- Develop and implement programs to encourage excellent character traits, social skills, and foster effective coping mechanisms
